Get Messlabs

Requirements

• Windows XP or Windows Vista
• Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
• Windows Live Messenger

Installing Messlabs

1. Download the Messlabs 0.2.3 installer here
2. Install Messlabs Add-in somewhere (the default directory will do)
3. Quit and reload Windows Live Messenger
4. Go to the Windows Live Messenger options (Menu -> Tools -> Options)
5. Go to the 'Add-ins' section (enabled by the installer)
6. In the bottom half of the window you will see an 'Add to messenger' button, click that and then locate the directory where you installed Messlabs Add-in and select the 'MesslabsAddin.dll' file then click Open
7. Close the options window by clicking OK

Running Messlabs

There are some limitations in this new Add-in... the Messenger team have provided no way of loading add-ins on startup and so they must be started manually every time you log in.

To start the Messlabs add-in you just click your name in the main messenger window and select 'Turn on Messlabs Add-in'.

(It is also worth mentioning that you don't actually need to turn on the Messlabs add-in, if you click your nickname and display the menu, the add-in will start anyway)

Once Messlabs has started you will be greeted by a login screen. Before you can login you will need to register (see below).

When you have registered an account and verified your email you will be able to log in to Messlabs.

Generating an image

Once you have logged in to Messlabs you can head over to the Image Generator page to create your own status indicator or avatar.
